Regicide – Magnetic Vertical Chessboard

REGICIDE – MAGNETIC VERTICAL CHESSBOARD

The Regicide reimagines the traditions of classic chess as a wall-mounted magnetic chessboard that combines the timeless elegance of alternating light and dark squares with modern craftsmanship and distinctive interior design. Both a functional playing surface and a striking decorative piece, every Regicide is handcrafted to order in our own workshop using solid hardwood, epoxy resin and a concealed magnetic system. With three available sizes, precise geometric detailing and the unique natural grain of each piece of wood, every Regicide has its own distinctive character.

VERTICAL CHESS – A NEW PERSPECTIVE

What makes the Regicide special is that the game is played not on a table, but on a vertical surface. Magnets concealed beneath the playing squares keep compatible magnetic chess pieces securely in position. A game can therefore be paused for hours or even days without putting the pieces away – while the board remains an elegant, eye-catching feature of the room.

TRADITIONAL CHESSBOARD DESIGN

The Regicide's playing surface is defined by the precise geometric arrangement of traditional alternating light and dark squares. The natural contrast between different wood tones, complemented by subtle epoxy details, highlights the timeless pattern of the classic chessboard.

This traditional design preserves the familiar visual language of chess while introducing an entirely new way to display and enjoy the game through its wall-mounted magnetic construction.

The result is a chessboard that combines the heritage of traditional gameplay with the character of modern handcrafted wall art.

SOLID WOOD & EPOXY

The Regicide is crafted from a combination of solid hardwood and epoxy resin. Contrasting light and dark wooden elements create the traditional chessboard pattern, complemented by a distinctive solid hardwood frame and carefully integrated epoxy details.

Natural variations in grain, colour and texture make every board unique.

Alternative hardwoods – including oak, American walnut, cherry or custom wood combinations – may be available upon request, depending on material availability and current costs.

Epoxy resin creates a modern contrast with the natural wood while highlighting the precise geometric structure of the chessboard.

The Regicide shown in the product photographs is a custom reference piece. Due to the natural variations in wood grain and colour, the finished product may differ slightly from the photographs shown.

CONCEALED MAGNETIC SYSTEM

The magnets are integrated into the construction of the board, preserving its clean, classical appearance. This system allows compatible magnetic chess pieces to remain securely attached and to be moved across the vertical playing surface.

THREE AVAILABLE SIZES

The Regicide is available in three sizes, allowing you to choose the ideal balance between gameplay, visual impact and available wall space.

35 × 35 cm – A compact version designed for smaller spaces and decorative displays.
55 × 55 cm – A classic-sized option offering a balanced combination of gameplay and visual appeal.
80 × 80 cm – A large statement piece designed to become a defining feature of the room.

All dimensions refer to the approximate overall external size of the chessboard.

OPTIONAL GLOW-IN-THE-DARK STRIP

The Regicide can be ordered with fluorescent details. These light-absorbing elements produce a subtle afterglow in darkness, adding another dimension to the board's appearance. During daylight, they become part of its distinctive design.

The glow-in-the-dark feature is an optional extra and is not included in the standard model.

OPTIONAL MAGNETIC CHESS PIECE SET

The standard Regicide does not include chess pieces. A compatible magnetic chess piece set designed for the vertical playing system can be ordered separately.

The pieces can also be finished in custom colours to complement the board's wood and epoxy combination or the surrounding interior.

Any traditional chess pieces shown in the product photographs are for illustrative purposes only and are not included with the standard model.

CUSTOM DESIGN OPTIONS

As every Regicide is handcrafted to order, a wide range of personalisation options is available. Alternative hardwoods, epoxy colours, fluorescent details, custom chess pieces and other unique design elements can be discussed through a personalised quotation.
